I have made a few changes to Optimum Attributes for Fudge. Mind is now divided into Intellect and Willpower instead of Intellect and Perspicacity, and Spirit is now divided into Creativity and Intuition instead of Willpower and Intuition. Perspicacity is redundant and Willpower is really more of a function of the Mind than the Spirit. Creativity is a much better complement to Intuition, and they both serve to reinforce Spirit as more of a “feeling” attribute than a “thinking” attribute.
In the other group of attributes, Sensory Capacity is now divided into Active Perception and Passive Perception instead of Normal and Paranormal. Paranormal abilities ought to be gifts or powers, not attributes (unless everyone has them, in which case they would be Normal, not Paranormal). Active Perception and Passive Perception make use of the same five senses, but differently. Active Perception refers to the deliberate use of one or more senses to perceive something, whereas Passive Perception refers to the sensitivity of those senses when they are “at rest,” so to speak. A person straining to hear something on the other side of a door, for instance, would be using Active Perception. A person unaware of any danger and engaged in some absorbing activity, on the other hand, would rely on Passive Perception to be warned of the intruder sneaking about in the vicinity.
